Spelling question

I was reading through Ó Siadhail's Learning Irish and ran into this
phrase in Lesson 31's vocabulary list:

thrína chéile
upset, messed about

Doesn't "thrína" violate the caol/leathan spelling rule? And if not,
why?

If I recall correctly "tréna" is a contraction or "tré" and "a" with the
"n" as a connector - I'm not certain if that is the right word.

Thanks, Einde. I got a few responses to this through Gaeilge-B and
philo-celtic society's lists. I also found the answer myself after
doing a better search in my dictionary.

trí + a (relative particle)
trí + a (possessive adj)
